Clothing — What to Wear

Shoes. Wear shoes that are flexible yet durable; for example, dance shoes, indoor soccer shoes, Keds, or martial arts shoes.

Brown pants. Sweat pants or workout pants are fine. It'll be easiest to train if your pants are loose-fitting and breathable.

T-shirt with sleeves. Please do not wear cut-off sleeves, tank tops, or shirts with an exposed midriff.

Guidelines — Behavior in Class

  • Arrive a few minutes early if possible to stretch or help the teacher set up the room for training.
  • If you are late by 15 minutes or more, take a seat at the back of the room until the teacher acknowledges you.
  • If you need to use the bathroom, inform the instructor and go with minimal disturbance to other students.
  • It’s best to drink plenty of water 30 minutes or more before class starts. It's a disturbance to the rest of the class to have students constantly leaving the room to get a drink or to have several water bottles cluttering the room. If water is needed, please inform the Mestre and gain permission before leaving. We train many movements with the body inverted, making it uncomfortable to train with a belly full of water!
  • Do not chew gum or have candy or cough drops in your mouth during class. This is a serious choking hazard.
  • Do not talk during class except to ask the teacher questions - which is encouraged!
  • Please shower or use deodorant before class. We train in close quarters with little ventilation and we would like to keep the space inviting to participants and visitors.
